Who I am

I am Loren!  I graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Psychology.  Soon after, I attended the University of Maryland, Baltimore, completing a Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work and an internship with Johns Hopkins.  I have experience serving clients at each level of care, including community mental health, psychiatric facilities, Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), as well as private practice.  I have also worked with clients of various cultures and socioeconomic statuses.

Why Mental Health

All of the many experiences of my life have nurtured my passion as a mental health provider. I truly appreciate each one of my client's stories.  Everyday, I have the incredible opportunity to witness how remarkably resilient people can be under the most extraordinary circumstances.  The field of mental health has helped me to improve professionally and personally.  I better understand the value in recognizing my own patterns and habits, and the influence that those habits have on my life.  I am proud to say that the core principles of my work are illustrated in my everyday life.

My Approach

As your therapist, I will provide a safe, non-judgemental environment that is inclusive and culturally competent.  I offer a warm, non-judgemental approach, while also challenging you to align with the person that you are working to become.  I pride myself in honoring you as the truest expert in your own life.

In addition to the therapeutic relationship, my approach is research-driven and evidence-based.  I utilize several integrative treatment modalities including, but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

What is it?

Individual therapy is a form of treatment where you work on a one-to-one basis with me.  â€‹Individual therapy sessions typically last approximately 45-60 minutes, and dependent upon need, are recommended weekly or biweekly.

What Can You Expect?

During our first session together, I will complete an intake.  This will include gathering information about your history, symptoms, and goals for treatment.   Once the intake session is complete, we will then execute sessions that will include working towards your goals for treatment.

What To Say or Not Say...

Therapy is an opportunity for you to express yourself freely.  I will always work to respect your boundaries, and speak on topics at the pace of your comfortability.  While our sessions will be structured to work towards identified goals, you are free to discuss anything that you feel is important to you.  Please keep in mind, however, that I am a mandated reported, and there are limits to confidentiality.  These limits apply to harm towards self or others.
